This is the first Flowtite pipe installation in China. The DN500, PN6 pipe will supply potable water to the 200,000 residents of Nongan. The 5189 meter Flowtite pipeline replaces two old concrete pipes, one of which was in ruin and the other seriously leaking. The pipe was buried with 1.5 to 2.5 meters of cover, and in one location passed under a road. A 'go-no go' trolley set at 2.5% deflection was passed through the pipe after installation without interference demonstrating that the pipe was properly installed.

The contractor, Xu Zhou Pipe Engineering Bureau of China Oil & Gas Co., said the installation was easier and faster than with concrete pipes. A total of 38 sections of 12 meter lengths (456 m) Flowtite was installed in one day, and had it been concrete he estimated only 16 sections of 5 meter lengths (80 m) could have been installed.

This is a good case study to demonstrate the use of Flowtite for potable water applications, and ease of installation even in a country with relatively low labor rates.
