Pub. No. 15-PS-20202 (February 1996) Greolieres, France Tunnel du Loup Project No. 1 - Raw Water Pipeline Section
A corroded section of a reinforced concrete cylinder pipe supplying water to the village of Greolieres (Alpes-Maritimes) in France had to be replaced by it's owner, Lyonnaise des Eaux, the giant French water company. In 1994, Owens Corning submitted pipe samples to Lyonnaise des Eaux's CIRSEE laboratories for potable water testing approval, passing their requirements. CIRSEE recommended a pilot project for Flowtite pipe as a result of the successful test. In early 1995, when this project appeared, Lyonnaise des Eaux turned to Owens Corning for assistance. The concrete cylinder pipe to be replaced was in a narrow tunnel only 1.6 meters wide. A three man crew of GTM, the public works contractor, was able to install the 170 meters of 6 meter lengths of DN600, PN6 Flowtite pipe in four days.

Due to Flowtite pipe's light weight, the installation contractor's crew was able to hand carry the pipe sections into the tunnel. This would have been impossible with heavier, traditional pipe materials.

Since this original installation, Lyonnaise des Eaux has used more Flowtite pipe on another similar project
