This case study cites another example where Flowtite pressure pipe has been used to rehabilitate a deteriorated pressure main. The Calcutta Municipal Corporation (CMC) had twin 30 inch cast iron water mains that were badly corroded. These were undergoing frequent bursts, yet couldnUt be taken out of service for an extended period of time. Flowtite TechnologyUs licensee in India proposed to slipline the 30 inch cast iron pipes with DN600 Flowtite. With the improved flow characteristics of Flowtite pipe, the resulting lost in capacity due to the smaller ID was minimized. Four meter lengths of DN600 pipe, with Flowtite couplings partially laminated to the pipe barrel, were jacked from three pits to line the 677 meter length undergoing rehab. The annular space between the pipes was filled with concrete.
The CMC was so impressed with the installation that they later awarded Carbon Everflow a contract to rehabilitate a 700 meter section of 60 inch steel pipe with DN1300 Flowtite.
