The Calcutta Metropolitan Water and Sanitation Authority (CMWSA) recently completed a 90 MLD waterworks and contemplated letting a contract for a 1200mm steel pipe to supply the water to the plant. Carbon Everflow's engineers demonstrated that a DN1100 Flowtite pipe would deliver the same quantity of water with no more head loss and were awarded the contract on that basis.

The CMWSA was concerned about abrasion resistance since this was a raw water main. Accelerated abrasion tests were carried out by the Maharashtra Engineering Research Institute at Nasik, convincing the authorities of Flowtite's adequatecy.

Since GRP pipe was relatively new in India, at the time of this project, CMWSA required Carbon Everflow to take responsibility for installing the pipe. The 800 meter pipeline was installed and field hydrotested to 4.5 bars before handing over.
