The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board needed a pipeline to supply water to their North Madras Thermal Power Plant. Initially cast iron pipe was considered, but testing of the local soils found them to be high in sulfates and chlorides making for a very corrosive condition for metallic pipes. The Engineering Director of the Madras Water Supply and Sewage Board turned to Carbon Everflow's corrosion resistant Flowtite pipe.

The DN500, PN6 pipeline, in addition to being buried over a majority of its 5855 meter length, also passes over two canals and a railroad line. On the above portion of the line, 210 concrete saddles were cast every 3.5 meters to support the SN5000 pipe.
