Over the past 30 years, more than 100 penstocks have been built in Norway using Flowtite pipe. These penstock lines are designed to feed mini-hydroelectric turbines. Most of the penstocks are installed aboveground, with upto 47 degrees of slope. This case study features three projects, each uniquely different. Operating pressures range from 6 bar to 32 bar. DN1200 Flowtite was custom designed in one case with 7 meter lengths, and beveled joints, to facilitate the use of the existing support crades on a 300 meter radius of curvature.
